We’re just a week from the 2026 Tax-Efficient Wealth Summit. If you have not yet registered, I invite you to register as soon as possible as the early bird discount is now extended to June 15th! When it comes to tax planning, waiting until next tax season to “figure it out” is a mistake. The window to plan is now and we will share some ideas during the summit. Enjoy this issue where I share some key tax and financial planning tips to help you navigate both simple and complex tax situations. Please remember to share this with your network: 1. Have You Registered for the Tax-Efficient Wealth Summit? If you’ve not yet registered for the summit, hurry as the extended early bird pricing will expire on June 15th! If you’re considering ways to minimize your taxes and build wealth in a tax-efficient manner, then you should make plans to join me and my special guests on Saturday, June 20th at this year’s Tax-Efficient Wealth Summit. This year, we also have a LIVE online stream option if you want to join us virtually. We will focus on the 3 key tax-efficient asset classes used by the wealthy to build and accelerate wealth. For those attending in-person, you will have the opportunity to connect with others just like you and potentially build new relationships. For all attendees, it’s a great learning environment with the great speakers we have lined up this year. To get all the event details and to register, go here. I look forward to hosting you again this year. 2. Fun Summer Chess & Fun Camp in Oakville If you don’t have Summer plans for your kids or if you’re looking for an additional option, we run a Summer Chess & Fun camp in Oakville. Registration is quickly filling up for our 2026 Summer chess & fun camps. This year, we are running two full-day camp sessions. The first camp starts in about two weeks and will run from Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 3, 2026. The second camp will run from July 13 to July 17, 2026. Our Summer camp is fun with chess, soccer, basketball, money management for kids, and other fun activities. Kids come out of this camp equipped with new skills, particularly, the money skills that many kids lack. At the end of the camp, in addition to elevating their knowledge of chess, your kids will know the difference between assets and liabilities; good debt and bad debt; assets that grow in value and assets that depreciate in value; the importance of saving, and many more. It is not uncommon to earn income and wonder why you don’t have a penny of it saved or invested at the end of the month. One of the major reasons for this is what we call lifestyle inflation. A concept where our expenses grow in line with our income as we are wired to live just like the guy or gal next door. Another reason for this, which is not always obvious, is the impact of taxes. Taxes and certainly lifestyle inflation can negatively impact your ability to build wealth. In one of the chapters of my book, Tax-Efficient Wealth, I share some of the main obstacles to building tax-free or tax-efficient wealth. One of the obstacles I discuss is taxes. If you ask most Canadians what their biggest expense is, they will most likely say it’s housing costs. This may be right for some. However, if you have a high income, taxes are likely your biggest expense. According to a recent report from the Fraser Institute, the average Canadian family spent 43.6 percent of their income on taxes in 2018, more than they spent on housing and other expenses combined. Can you imagine that? This is significant. The average family’s total tax bill at 44 percent is likely more than the amount they’re paying on housing costs each year. Get more details on this in this article, where I also recommend an exercise you can undertake now to get a sense of where all your money is going. 5. Have You Seen the Podcast Episode?
